We're back

Wow, I missed a day, I am so sorry. Things were pretty roller coaster-esque.

Again, he was all over the place, but settled down to ok. He is having more "intermittent breathing" episodes, when he just doesn't want to breath regularly. He'll hold his breath for a bit, than breath really hard, or take lots of small shallow breathes, all of which require different settings on the machines... I was scared and unsure of the future, now I am tired from the different peaks and valleys that happen all in one day.

Kristen is pretty whipped, the constant driving back and forth coupled with the schedule of things she is doing for Greydon is keeping her pretty busy.

Yesterday and today Aunt Ang was able to be down with us. She took us out to eat yesterday, and made us dinner tonight, I think she is in the kitchen right now cutting up watermelon... we're going to get spoiled!

For the last three times when I have got to hold him he has either had a brady or apnea. He either got too relaxed, or another time it was condensation that built up and he was basically drowning. Last night's nurse-dude didn't appreciate my getting the respiratory therapist when I didn't feel like he was solving the problem fast enough.. hmmm, nope not sorry... (poor Kristen).

Tonight I told the nurse that I was pretty gun shy to hold him again. It went fine. Earlier in the day he had an apnea episode so they turned the pressure way up to get air into his lungs. He did really well being held by me until the nurse chose that moment to experiment decreasing his pressure just to see what might happpen.... do I need to define gunshy? So of course with my luck he didn't like that and after rubbing his back and trying to stimulate him into breathing, she turned the machine back up... thanks for not waiting 15 minutes until he was back in his bed for that...

Last night after we got home after a late dinner I had a chance to work for a couple of hours at the print shop my buddy runs. The simplest of tasks caused a couple of blisters on my hand... uhm open blisters mixed with the anti-bacterial goo we douse ourselves in every time we visit Greydon equaled squeels of agony and an intersting new dance step or two let me tell you.

I'm running ballroom bootcamp this week at LHS before school starts next week. I have the 40 kids on my competitive team come everyday Tues-Sat from 9-2 and drill and work on getting the year started. So by the time I got home from the print shop, finished preparing for the first day of boot camp, and then got up early... it wasn't too surprising that I half drifted off holding Greydon tonight... it was great of course.

Tomorrow night my dance team is performing in the Utah County Fair Opening Ceremonies, feel free to come and watch at the Spanish Fork Fair Grounds, around 7pm I think. There isn't any admission. We're dancing a western swing to "Cotton Eye Joe".

Tonight he weighed 2lbs 15 oz... which might be a little off because the scale was being a little odd, but if that is close to right it means he is close to breaking the 3 lb barrier!

He is still tolerating his feedings ok, he is getting the air and gas like we don't want , but not enough to stop the feedings again yet.

Thanks for the update, I was getting a little anxious. Yesterday I talked with the gal that I spoke to you about, the one that was in your exact shoes, (okay, maybe not EXACT), 18 months ago. She says she thinks about you guys alot, then she got kinda teary eyed. She says she remembers so vividly the daily, hourly, roller coaster and how it's sooo hard, and sooo normal. I can't even begin to imagine. Hang in there, we're sending all of our love and support your way!

Glad I got to read your update today - it has been a few days and I have been anxious to hear about Greydon. I love the picture of Kristen holding him in the mirror and the thought of Calvin falling asleep holding him in the nursery brings back great baby memories. Love you guys! Tony, Kim and kidlets
