Last night Greydon ate 30 of the 50 ml on his own, which was great. The morning was a big fat zero, but let's hope the evening feeding is a new trend.
His iron was low again. They already have him on iron supplements so the thing to do is give another transfusion. They want to avoid it if they can. Blood cells are manufactured by your bone marrow. When the body sees you are low, the marrow makes more, when you have enough the marrow slows down production. When you get a transfusion the marrow sees all of these red blood cells that just moved in from out of state and thinks, oh, well I wont make more, when the problem in the first place was that there weren't enough.
So, trying to avoid the transfusion they gave him a test to see if the marrow was making blood cells. Malfunctioning marrow, a possibility that kind of stresses me out to say the least. But the test came back with a 3.7. Now if you're like me I'm not sure what 3.7 stands for. The nurse really wasn't the explaining type, not one of our regulars. She said that the marrow was making some blood cells. It felt like she emphasized the word SOME, but I can't be sure. We'll talk to the doc this morning to find out.
They are going to give him a couple of days, check his blood again and decide then if he needs another transfusion.
In the previous two paragraphs throw in the words hemoglobin, platelette (which I don't know how to spell) and hermodocrite (which I really don't know how to spell). Throw them in randomly because they are words to use in this conversation but I'm not quite sure where to use which one. So instead of getting it wrong I'll let you com up with your own version... kind of like mad libs... remember mad libs? ohhh, fifth grade, such memories.
I'm trying to figure out what clever or offensive comment to end with to encourage people to leave comments.. it looks like only 10% of people who drop by feel they have anything to say... or perhaps I am just really boring.
Let's try this....
What's up with security guards? Hello, you don't even carry a gun, you're not THAT powerful... (after 9 we have to sign in at the security desk, they are actually pretty nice and calm, but that makes for boring blogging)

I hate in when medical professionals tell you a result and then dont really explain it. H-E-L-L-O you have seen the test before! You could at least share some info about how the results stack up to others that are similar.
You're never boring! Boring people must be your 90%
Hey, look at me! I'm back!
I was actually reading a bunch of your old posts yesterday. Greydon is adorable. I hope you guys come home soon!
I like those medical people that spill the beans, "I am not supposed to say anything but I have seen these a hundred times and this is what it says...." It is like someone is on your side. My favorite security guards are the oldies that you could totally take.
Here's a good story for your comment board. Police men are similar to security guards, right? My friend is a new elementary school teacher, 3rd grade, and they had a "show and tell" or bring your parent day or something... so one little kid brings his dad, who is a police officer. As soon as he walks in the door another little girl yells, "Hey, you're the guy that took my mom to jail!" Talk about awkward...
Since when have I not had a comment; you know me, slightly opinionated but........
Good job on the evening feeding Greydon, now get that bone marrow gyrating would ya?!
One thing you are not is boring dear heart; Amys' gals at work just crack up at the way you write stuff!! I think you think you've run into the Blog Wall or something, we still find it all very interesting and uplifting!Love, Muzz
Geez, I read your blog at least every other day (but usually daily) to keep up on Greydon and I just now figured out how to get into the comment field!!! I don't claim to be computer literate.
Greydon is so dang sweet! He is a real cutie for sure. The highs and lows must really keep you straddling the edge of sanity. One day you'll look back on all this.....and say you're glad it's behind you!
You all remain in our prayers...
Love, Greydon's Aunt Lynn
I admit I am a blog stalker I guess is what they are called. I think that your post are fun to read I don't read most of the ones I look at but I do read yours! And if you are not an oompa loompa for Halloween I will be severly disappointed! Loves, j
C'mon Greydon, let's get a move on! The 10th is just around the corner and I want to win that cruise your dad promised!!!
What a roller coaster! I used to know what all that medical mumbo-jumbo meant, but not so much anymore. Anatomy classes only stay with you for so long!
So I was just saying to Belinda that I love reading your blog because you are so funny! And your writing is amazing. Thanks for the entertainment")
You can think what you want about Halloween but I think that is a great costume very original and what do you know anyway! Kiss that baby for me!
Oh and on the nice side... Thank you for the advice you are totally right. I just need another perspective on things once in awhile I really appreciate it. YOu will have to come see me there and tell me what you think!
Sorry I haven't commented lately, but I've been down with the flu. I get very upset when Greydon has set backs like this so I know you guys are on the brink of frantic. I keep praying for him, and keep looking forward to your blogs. Just keep your chin up, and get some sleep. You both need it. Love to all.
