Greydon did pretty well today, but not great.
He seemed kind of discontent, and still was swinging on his oxygen needs. He is able to sleep, but a little fitfully at times. He has a hard time getting comfortable after feedings. Tonight he was discontent and kept needing more help and more help with oxygen, then Kristen found him a different position and he started doing great on oxygen... and then he had a brady..
Bradies are bad.
A bradiocardial (sp?) episode is when his heart rate dips really really low, not quite stopping, but low enough that it isn't doing it's job. He hasn't had a brady for a month.
Linda, tonight's nurse and one of our favorites, is putting everything together and is thinking that he might have some acid reflux issues. Like father like son I guess. The reflux could be responsible for everything, including the brady. There's a nerve that triggers the low heart rate when he has the reflux bad enough (or something like that).
The actual test for reflux is pretty unenjoyable and intrusive for the little guys, so sometimes they just treat and see if it helps. She is going to bring it up during rounds and see what the doc thinks.
They treat by giving them a daily dose of prevacid...
But he still is one big cutey. .
If you remember I mentioned the twin girls going in for heart surgery, they were scheduled ot be back the same day, earlier this week. Days later and finally one of them is back, but not the other yet. We hear the other is scheduled to come back tomorrow... scary, we were getting worried. I don't know details... I think they have a blog that Ang looked at, maybe she knows what has been happening. But I'll get all the details soon from the dad when I see him.

It is logical that the reflux is causing his problems; I went to the emergency rm. 3 times with what they thought was heart attack or severe heart pain before they found the reflux. Surely hope it's something that easy to remedy. Love, Muzz
He is the cutest doggone little critter; but I'm prejudice!!
He is sooooo cute! Poor guy, give the medicine already, how uncomfortable!!
I am sorry for baby AND daddy... acid reflux is NO FUN!
BTW, Calvin, the book club treats were DIVINE and the table gorgeous. I love the house!! What a fun place to be for a while.... thanks for opening it to us.
Glad you enjoyed, you are welcome anytime.
Look at those cute chubby cheeks. I just wanna give them kisses! I can't wait to get some pics of Averie and him together. She'll look like a monster, but it'll be cute anyway.
He is one big cutie! My guess is Oct. 3rd. Did you get an invite to my blog? If not email me at meganandtrever@msn.com and I'll invite you.
I absolutely love the pictures with Kristen and Greydon together. I have never seen anyone look as contented and happy as she is. Babies will do that to you. He is soooo cute. Can't wait to see and hold hold him again. What an angel. Hope they get everything worked out ok soon, Linda is a wonder and she will see that it gets done.
