The stink of cheap

Why does everything that is cheap smell like petrol or Formaldehyde? Quite a while ago I purchased a very cheap piece of luggage for a business trip, they thought I was a work-a-holic when in reality I just didn't want to go back to my hotel room; even from the closet the suitcase smelled like either an oil refinery or a morgue. I don't frequent either on a regular basis, but I'm guessing this suitcase came from one of the two. When you walk into a cheap clothing store you get that same smell, you know the one don't you? I couldn't put my kids in clothes that came smelling like that.

We just went to the baby expo, we didn't have very high expectations but actually ended up enjoying ourselves. It was good for our pocket book that we don't know the gender yet. There were many things that were fine and cute, but for some reason when you cram a lot of normally cute merchandise into a warehouse and call it an expo it becomes irresistible.

I'm not always a big fan of all the vinyl lettering being slapped on walls all over UT right now. I think something nice and subtle can sometimes make a nice statement, sometimes. I especially like something in a location where you might not notice it right away. If I see one more "all because two people fell in love" things I might just scream. Anyway, cram them into a warehouse and call it an expo and even I went "awwwhhh" at one that seemed rather appropriate for us and handed over the credit card... I'm just another expo sucker.

Have you seen those really cheap sheets? They have great colors and come with 4 pillow cases, they look great, we bought two packages for our bed at the baby expo. As I opened up the first package I was suddenly reminded of my old cheap suitcase I could never find anywhere to store because it stank so bad. It went to DI shortly after only one business trip. I've washed both sheet sets twice now so far and as I open the washing machine I still feel like I am opening the door to a refinery, or a morgue... I'm sure they smell the same.

Today was also the 12 week check up! It went great, I am so relieved. I could feel my tension increasing throughout the last couple of days; days that plodded along slower than I thought possible. At first they couldn't get a good fix on the heartbeat with the microphone dealeo. That increased my blood pressure, but then we went back and got the actual ultrasound machine and everything was as it should be. 168 beats per minute.

I must say, boy or girl, we are having ourselves a dancer. The baby was moving all over the place, legs and arms just a pumping up and down back and forth. It was wild, I loved it. The picture we got was pretty worthless, otherwise I was going to post it. It was pretty fun to see the movement like that.

Oh, one more thing. I almost forgot. After the expo we had some time to kill before eating, so we stopped in this great boutique. Things were of great quality, very fashionable, with price tags to match, but so fun. Great things, like a baby black skull cap with a pink skull and cross bones to name one. I loved it. They had some CDs and I couldn't resist. They are lullabye versions of rock songs. I bought the Lullabye Greenday CD. I love it. Go to this website and look for your favorite ROCK or punk group, they have AC/DC, metallica, the cure, a bunch... all in lullaby rendition, it's great.. go look.

And, the cd doesn't even smell like a morgue or a refinery. Such a plus!

Yeah- one trimester down only 2 left! the 2nd tri has always been my favorite. You can start to feel the baby move and yet you can move comfortably yourself. I don't know about the skull idea from the boutique, it seems a little piratey :)

Our babies are obviously related because my baby never stops moving either. Don't get me wrong. I love it, but it takes some getting used to. Easton was never this active. So glad everything is going well.
