I wore my contact for approximately the second time today. I had to cancel my follow up visit yesterday since I hadn't worn it enough to have thoughts opinions and such. I got it in this morning relatively hassle free after trying to encourage and coax the little thing it to sit just right on the end of my finger for a few minutes. Today the contact worked fine no problems, but holy crap, we can't come up with a better way to get these things back off our eye ball? I think I actually pinched the top layer of my eyeball trying to get it out, I didn't even know that was possible. After using a knitting needle and a putty knife to scrape it off my retina I'm sitting here staring at the screen through a half open puffy bloodshot mess. We have the technology to make a motion activated singing bass on a wall plaque that sings "Take Me to the River" but I have to willingly stab myself in the eye?
This morning Kristen was surrounded by prepubescent pregnant nurses.... well I guess if they were pregnant they must be post pubescent, but just long enough to get impregnated by the sounds of it. They were sitting in the curtain area right next to Greydon and Kristen talking and talking and talking about my their perfect little pregnancies. One of them was the beauty queen pageant nurse (from an old post) whose voice just makes your ears bleed. The other was talking about how her and her husband had tried like a really oh my gosh really long time after getting married to get pregnant, like a whole five months..... yep, you heard me, 5 months. Buy a clue tweedle-blonde and tweedle-insensitive you're having your slumber party gab-fest in the middle of the dang NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT, surrounded by mom's and stories that might find your attitudes a little calloused, maybe?
NEWSFLASH! 15 year old nurse accosted with infant nasal bulb syringe by rampaging mother, film at 11.
"She just like came at me like with a totally weird look in her eyes totally, oh my gosh, I didn't even see her climb on top of that rocker until she had already jumped and was almost on me.."
buttheads (yep I said it)
I put together the bassinet, I'm pretty sure a hidden camera comes attached to the box and whoever wrote the "instructions" is just rolling around laughing right now in a cubicle somewhere in New Mexico. Two days later and every part of the thing has been put together, a couple of times actually. I had almost as much luck with the crib, I don't get how that little gate thing is supposed to slide easily up and down, I had to reassemble the entire mechanism every time I tried, three times was the charm and I walked away. Kristen is much smarter than I am and will likely never have a problem with it. There is a changing table that just got here today.. I figured tonight wouldn't be the best time or mood to unload and start trying to put that together.
I found out from the doc this morning that sometimes the surgeon who does the hernia repair can do another little surgery in the same vicinity at the same time... poor unsuspecting Greydon, but it's better than being the weird guy in the high school locker room showers in my mind.
Today when I walked to my car between classes to get different books a gust of wind blew a bunch of little leaves out of the trees and swirled around me. It smelled so crisp and friendly. Fall really is a great season.
I think dressing up for Halloween can be fun. I work at a high school, fun place to dress up. I've been having this conversation lately though. I don't dress up to be funny, I dress up so I can wear something cool. You can't walk around in chaps and spurs in my normal day to day life, but it sure was fun two years ago. I was never a jock, but last year got to walk around wearing all of the football gear, helmet pads and all, fun, cool. So this year I'm trying to decide what to do. And no, I have never had some secret desire to be 3 feet shorter, be even more over weight with orange skin and green hair so there really is not even a little chance that I am going to take Jess's suggestion and go as an oompah lumpah. Not gonna happen, any guy who dresses "cute" for Halloween had nothing to do with choosing his costume, promise. Boys want swords and super powers.
What's your favorite costume that YOU ever wore? Mine was the cowboy (thanks Tom)

Greydon is a gorgeous baby, is he your first? I tried to glance few as many posts as I could, he is quite the fighter. And that pic of him in a tuxedo? My "Awwww" was heard round the world.
My fave costume was when I was a gold princess, my mom made it with gold lamme stuff that started to peel, I loved being a princess...I think, I like the pic so I assume it was a fave. Also being a cheerleader with my dads ancient letter sweater (nope not a jacket they were sweaters)!!Say whhaaaaa?!!
You have a totally warped mind; I think these things but don't know how to write them; hey, we could be a team!!
couldn't someone discreetly mention to the air heads to talk when there's not a mother and baby struggling next door? I hope they don't do it while i'm there, mad gramma at 12:00!!
Dad and I wore raggedy andy and raggedy ann costumes one year a long, long time ago and won lst. prize; we either looked really good, or it was to stop the incessant tittering in the background.
Poor Greydon is not going to love drs. anytime soon! Perhaps the memory can be erased with years of lollipops and ice cream cones! I'm buying! Love, Muzz(gramma)
Yep, he's our first.
And I have no recollection of you guys wearing the Ann and Andy costumes, that's just funny.
He's adorable!
I was a Hershey's kiss one year in the 5th grade. I won best costume at our ward Halloween party.
I remember being a flower, I loved that one so much I wore it twice. Tage was batman twice and a cute little devil, those were my favorites of his. Oh, and a dragon. Jaide was Pocahontas which was my absolute favorite of hers but she was different princesses a few times and those were always cute. You could be Zorro a super guy with a sword.
Zorro would be cool
I'm having a hard time recalling my costumes... I think one that I had the most fun time with was when my friend and I dressed as "punkers". We wore black trash bags as dresses with neon socks and heeled pumps. We had fingerless gloves, wide belts and lots of earrings and bracelets. I'm sure you can imagine the '80s hair and makeup. I wish I had a picture of it.
Favorites............hm.m.m.m.! I would have to say it was the year I dressed up like Flower the Skunk or a Gangster/Drug Dealer - Tommy Gun and wing tip shoes!!!!! Love dressing up as someone (or something else love to get peoples reactions!)
Love the pics of Greydon - especially when one of you are holding him.
Give Greydon Butterfly kisses and hugs from Aunt Shannon.
Hugs for you, too!
That's why I went back to hard or semi-ridged contacts after having worn soft contacts for a few months. They are brutal. My hard contacts pop right in and out 99% of the time with no problems. The nurses have a lot to learn about professionalism, I hope you said something to Linda or Shelly. Maybe they can say something to them.
My favorite costume has been a gypsie. I think it brings out the wild side of me. (Whoohoo)
Love to all
I absolutely LOVE reading your posts! It just makes me laugh the way you explain things and tell stories! I've never really had a great costume. When I was up at Ricks, there were some girls that dressed up with dresses and aprons on. They had signs on them that said, "Your Future Wife", it was WAY funny!! Haley
Oh come on it would be so funny but if your are not into that then I don't know what to tell you! My fav costume was a pirate. That was my costume three years ago and I might do it again! Good luck withthe costume hunt!
