is it unlucky to end at 13?

Random day

1.) Blogger has decided that it hates me and my pictures, so the picture that nurse Linda took in a superman costume will have to only be seen in your mind's eye. I don't know what to do. (the picture is of GREYDON in a superman costume, not a self-portrait of Nurse Linda, that would be a surprise photo gift I might not appreciate quite as much.)

2.) When making your homemade "Zachy" with a ziplock baggy and a bunch of rice.. the pre-flavored saffron rice will eventually have an oder that leaks through the baggy and makes you wonder why your baby smells like India.

3.) Who remembers forever ago the air conditioner saga? Finally we got a unit that worked, didn't shoot shards of plastic out making horrible exploding noises in the middle of the night. The company that installed it in the window for us finally was able to come over to take it out the other day. The worker un-screwed the supports and then came back in to pull it into the house through the window. A large rumbling crashing noise later and the wide-eyed worker is just standing in our living room holding nothing except the front grill of an air conditioner. I could only laugh. Luckily it didn't land on the car and even though it doesn't look too bad they agreed to buy us a new unit if this one has any problems next year, in writing even.

4.) "Sleeping" has nothing to do with being quiet.

5.) "Sleeping"has nothing to do with nighttime.

6.) "Sleeping" is discouraged during accounting classes.

7.) "Zachys" are worth their weight in gold.

8.) Bassinets are built ridiculously close to the ground.

9.) Stooping all of the way down to one millimeter off the ground while trying to change a diaper around 3 different squirming cords is less than convenient and even a little painful.

10.) Yes Mother did know that, no I didn't believe her, and yes we are moving the changing table back into the master bedroom as per her original suggestion. (fine)

11.) Cousins who are willing to come take professional photographs of cute little babies rock. (thanks Jen, can't wait to see them)

12.) All of the world's problems can be solved by nuzzling the neck of a cuddly baby, well maybe not tsunami's, they travel too fast to notice, but everything else, solved!

13.) 4 1/2 days after going home from the NICU seems like far too soon and way too long all at the same time to go to our first doctor's appointment. (we'll keep you informed)

I'm sorry about the pictures. I bet the one of Greydon in a superman costume is adorable.

So not jealous of the things you're learning about "sleeping." It's amazing how little sleep a person can function with. What in the world is a Zachy?

Mothers know best, that's why you got the changing table, I can't stoop over a bed to change diapers.( and I do intend to change a few). I'm glad Jen showed up to take pictures. I was going to call her, but I wasn't sure when a good time would be. And I'm with Haley, what is a Zachy???

these are 13 fun musings, I don't believe them to be unlucky at all.

I can not believe you are home in the lone and dreary world all on your own!!!! I hope it is going good.

A Zaky is the little arm bean bag that Greydon used to sleep with at the hospital. It's weighted like a human hand so that the baby feels pressure and is consoled/pacified. Ours was tan and looked like a fuzzy glove. YOu can see it in some of his pics. Most of the preemies have one and I wish we had stolen his and brought it home. Is it breaking a commandment when you WISH you'd stolen something?

I'm so excited for all of you, this is such an amazing time, especially when you think back to where you started. What a blessing. Love the song, most are annoying, but this is sweet!

no sleep I know what is like. I had a baby born 5 weeks early he is now 21 but I rember all the peach fuzz and the stress of bringing him home and every thing you have to do. It is fun when they get older you think back to all the nos leep, streed out day and then they grow up so fast. Good luck and I am glad he's home
