great pic
Second, we went for our first walk today. Holy moly was the weather perfect! It was autumn, but actually warm. The leaves were crisp and at our feet but still colorful in the trees. It was great. We, well I, certainly over bundled the little dude, but hey over-protection is better than not enough right? (right????)

So we spoke with the doctor's office today about Greydon. Gramma B did some google searches for his symptoms (so techno-proficient) and we kept coming back to the same thing.
Here is an excerpt....
The crying or fussing most frequently begins suddenly, and often after a feeding.(which is so sad to watch) The cry is loud and continuous(which is a new thing), and the spells last from one to four hours(making you feel completely useless). The baby's face often gets flushed or red(which freaks me out). The belly is sometimes distended or prominent, the legs alternating between flexed and extended straight out(like he is in a bunch of pain); the feet are often cold and the hands clenched(like he is peeved). The episodes, while they can occur at any time of the day or night, typically begin in the late afternoon or early evening, just when parents or caregivers are most exhausted(actually for us the middle of the night is worse).
The diagnosis? Welcome to the wonderful world of colic.
Everyone talked in the hospital about how peaceful and serene he was, never complaining.... he is still that guy sometimes.
Colic often starts apparently around 2 weeks, so for us it started 2 weeks gestational, not 2 weeks from delivery. Usually by four months it starts to calm down.... now if that means four months from delivery, cool, 4 weeks to go.
I always thought colic meant babies who were never happy, but he is text book colicky, and it is obvious he is in pain, I hate to see it. I hope that the hernia surgery on Nov. 13th helps a little.
The doctors office said we could get some mylocon to see how that works.
Mylocon sounds like the name of an oversized robot villain in a bad Japanese action flick from the 70's.... AGGGHHHH run run it's MYLOCON!!!
They want us to come in if nothing has improved in two days to do an exam and consider upping his prilosec dose.
We got our bill from the hospital today. It hasn't gone through insurance yet, only covers the HOSPITAL, not the doctors... go ahead and take a guess.... no really guess.......................
I'm going to leave some space while you think about the NICU for 3 months, so as to not spoil your guess.

Try over a quarter of a million dollars!!
Yep, in the 250,000's, not counting the other hospital, ambulances, doctors or folowup visits or surgeries..... I wasn't expecting that.
Don't worry, we have good insurance... plus what are they gonna do, take away my birthday?
......They say babies are priceless, I always thought that was just a figure of speech.

Oh my gosh! That is a lot of money! And he is worth every darn penny.
I am so sorry about the colic. Get a baby sitter and sneak out for an hour of quiet, if you need to. Bring him here any time, I am cheap (free) and would love to see him. Good luck.
Try the blow dryer or vacuum when he gets fussy. Either it will help him calm down or help you because you cant hear his crying so loud :)Good luck!
I've always been afraid that I'd have a colicky baby. So far, so good. You'll have to have Annika tell you about when they had Ahna-Maija. I CAN'T believe that bill. That is really insane!
What a blessing insurance is!!!. I would hate to see what would happen to an uninsured family. He is our million dollar baby, no doubt. Cute pics and I'm glad to see that you are getting outside and enjoying the weather. 4 days and we're there! yeah
Thank goodness for insurance!!! So excited to have him healthy and happy (kinda happy....in his own crying way)
