The "nursery" has quite a ways to go still before it is no longer a guest room. I'm excited, it makes it real, a little sad, but I'll live with the sad to get the "real"
This morning Greydon's hemoglobin was low again so they gave him another blood transfusion. His little bone marrow just isn't up to the task of making everything he needs yet. They were considering putting him on iron supplements. His hemoglobin was low enough that they skipped that step and went to the transfusion. In a week they might do the iron supplements.
This time for the transfusion they put the line into his little scalp.... which is just so sad.
Apparently there are less nerves there than other choices, and he handled it great, but I still hate it.

Kristen couldn't hold this morning while he was getting his blood transfusion, so she held this evening.
This evening as we were doing his cares, getting his food started, and getting him into Kristen's arms, they checked his hemoglobin again. They want it 12 or higher, this morning it was at nine, tonight it was at 16. They left the line in in case he needed more blood, but with such a good test result they took out the scalp line. He hates to have his temperature taken, or to have the stethoscope on his chest, but stab his heel for a blood test, or let his scalp bleed while they take out a needle from his little head and he doesn't even flinch.
Little blue bear sauntered back by tonight. He took a little camera with him. He can't say much, but by the looks of the pictures he had quite the journey for such a little guy.

(ok, if you think I have completely lost my mind, which is a whole different post, I just wanted to do something to help show how big he is currently.)

When we got to the hospital tonight there was a little outfit hanging near his bed. Sometimes the wonderful parent's group will leave little treasures... but not this one. One of the respiratory therapists saw the little outfit in the store, thought of Greydon and bought it for him! That was so thoughtful. I think she got them for a couple of her patients. Tomorrow is bath night, we'll have to put him in the new outfit. It is good for up to 5lbs, and since he JUST HIT FOUR POUNDS TONIGHT it should fit great.

He's getting so "big"! I love the first picture on this post- those cheeks. So sweet.
great posts, thank you for keeping us posted on everything. I love the traveling bear! Do you remember the mama & baby stuffed bunny we had in newborn hospital pics with McKailha? That bunny still shows up in some photos...
Guy
He's looking so great!!!!
That's some bear travelin'; and you know everytime he's in a pic with Greydon, the blue bear is shrinking!!! 4 lbs. wahoo!!
The crib assembly must make it seem so much more plausible tho..
don't you think?!Love, Muzz
That bear really gives some perspective of Greydons size! He is getting some adorable chub on his cheeks!
Love the bear comparison. The perspective of this little guy is overwhelming! Plus, for a mintue I thought it was like home-ec class test where you 'pretend' to be a parent with an inanimate object for a while, but no... you are completely sane. *phew*
he looks so cute in that little outfit.... up to 5 lbs....that is just unbelieveable! Good luck today with the eye tests. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
