Good numbers, sad little visual

Greydon had a pretty good morning. His pic line went bad, but they have him on less medications so they didn't need to put in a new one. He had his brain scan today to make sure there wasn't bleeding on the brain, and there isn't. His chest x-ray this morning showed "insignificant" amounts of fluid on his lungs, so that's good. He is eating more now and gained 100 grams in one day. The nurse weighed him 3 times to make sure she had it right. He now weighs 2 lbs 12 ounces. His blood gas is good, his respitory rate stays high sometimes, but drops down to more normal levels periodically.

All of that is good news, but he looks sad, stressed out and tired.

More than he has.

He looks like he has just run a half marathon with Tiff and is breathing really deep and harsh.

The staff agree, it's not just us that see it. Sometimes babies have to go back to being intubated, but usually they get tired out, and their blood gasses drop, and they breathe too fast... but his numbers look good. His "retractions", which are is inhales, just look big and labored. It was very sad to watch him tonight. He was not happy, this picture I took was after he calmed back down a little.

Kristen and I both got a little teary, but held it together. I just wish I could breathe for him. I've got a lot of hot wind, he can have all he wants.

We finally found some time to go together to a fabric store to get some fabric to make little sheets for his NICU bed and "barrier" roll. We left the hospital after he quieted a little, instead of giving him a bath or holding him which would only tire him out more. We didn't want to go home and just fret over it so we got some cute flannel instead. Aunt Karen has graciously offered to edge it for us so it doesn't come unraveled when we wash it...

There was a rainbow on the way to the hospital....

Having a hard night...

You saw a rainbow on the way to the hospital? Ask and ye shall receive.....

Just a note.... you only see them after a storm. ;-)

Just want you to know that I appreciate your updates soooo much!! I'm sure it feels like one more thing to have to do, but your blog is something I, and I know my family, check at least twice a day if not more. Thank you, thank you for including us. As always, the 3 of you are in our prayers. Also, cousin Nathan in Texas is praying for all of you as well.
