....and world peace

Notice anything different?

Elephant boy has returned!

We thought we might have a day or more of the ventilator, but when we got to the hospital this morning his respirator machine was off, and when we peeked into his bed we saw his trunk had regrown!

It looks so much more intrusive and cumbersome, but really the c-pap is a good thing. There are draw backs of course. We are so glad and thankful that we got those pictures yesterday, it will probably be a while before his face is very visible again. The c-pap also chaps his poor little lips because the air comes back out of his mouth often.

We found out that he pulled his tube out in the middle of the night again and the respiratory therapist decided to take the opportunity to switch him to the c-pap a little earlier than planned, he has been handling it well. If you look closely you will notice that his og tube isn't in his mouth in that first picture either... he pulled that out just before we got there, the nurse hadn't caught him yet.

He was a little agitated all day, we found out in the evening the morning nurse skipped his sedation medication again, apparently it's a judgement call for the nurse if they need it or not and this nurse is known for never giving it. It just takes the edge off. The respiratory therapist was bugged and got him some while we were there so he could sleep.

It has to be annoying having that thing strapped to your head. The verset just takes the edge off, it doesn't knock him out or drug him to the point where he isn't in there.

His chest film was pretty hazy again, but clinically his numbers look good, so they are going to keep giving him a diverse collection of anti-biotics and see how the next one looks.

Our nurse this evening, was very nice, seemed well educated, and wouldn't be out of place wearing a tiara and a sash. I don't mean to be overly rude, but the way she spoke just gave me half of the case of the giggles, while the other half of me was trying to fight the beauty queen stereotype and was concerned she could care for Greydon properly.

"....because y'all really isn't America like a little bitty baby in a shiny incubator? With my reign I hope to give our great nation the oxygen it needs to grow and and be strong, as demonstrated by my baton routine..... Thank you.

Catching up! He looks so good! I sure wish I could be there but am trying to figure out how I can come for a visit with Mom when he comes home. I don't see any little socks or booties on his feet...........probably can't with tubes and stuff. I have a really cool.........little.....pattern for knitting booties..........can I make him some?? I could make cool ones........they won't be rainbows or unicorns. Things are pretty hairy here........Mom Nash not doing well. May only be with us for 1-2 weeks. Just one of the things going on. Will try to keep up with you but hope you understand if there are some breaks! Hugs and kisses for everybody. Love Shannon

I'm so sorry Shannon. Give my best to Garrett... Of course you can knit him some booties, I completely trust your taste and know they'll be cool. You're right, to many things stuck to him to wear anything, he always has sensors on on if not both feet. But someday soon hopefully. You and Garrett are in our prayers. Your probably wont read this, and I'll try to get word to you, but in case you do..... big hug and kisses!
