Quite a way to say good morning! Everytime we change a diaper they have to weigh it to track everything... so the nurse walked off with three instead of one... pretty dang funny. I figured there wouldn't be much use for any pictures in this situation.
This morning I got to hold him. He lasted his typical hour and then started to squirm a little.
You know Kristen and I love music. We have been attempting here and there to lull him with lullabies... to my dismay he hasn't been buying in. Usually he starts squirming more. We found that barely talking in a whisper to him is much more soothing.... but finally this morning a little singing went a long way. Now I'm not talking about karaoke hour in the NICU here, it's not like we're belting out our favorite 80's techno hits and acting surprised when they don't soothe the little guy. Hushed, little songs worked this morning. Kristen and I were both singing along, we kind of looked at each other in surprise when he didn't start to fidget more, and were even more surprised when it worked and he settled right down. We went through a couple of Janice Kapp Perry duet classics, some hymns, a few Italian folk songs, a few show tunes, a 60's protest song and a ballad or two. It's funny how hard it is to sing that quiet. It was great. I told Kristen he is going to have to learn to like hearing me warble at him because I won't be able to stop even if he wants me to.
I held him this morning so Kristen could hold him tonight, he has a different temperament at different times of the day. He was great for Kristen, but even though she tried to trick him by changing positions once, he still only lasted just over an hour.
Let's just insinuate that I am not the only one who finds it challenging to remain lucid while holding a sleeping baby...

When we hold "skin to skin", which is better for his development (and ours) we take off the onesie to get more direct contact. It is a little challenging to dress him around all of the wires. Do you see that pink thing under his head?

Here's a closer shot...

It's squishy (medical term) and pliable and helps to keep his head straight center when it's time to lay in midline, but not get a flat head... pretty simple yet effective.
And then he was dressed, and cute, and we stared for a while before kicking ourselves out to the curb to let him rest.

I am sure the diaper stories will just keep getting more and more interesting especially with a little boy!
At least Kristen didn't end up wearing it. He looks good. So does Kristen. I am sure you do too.
He needs a good grandma rock. All kids are good when their grandmas rock them. I'm comming little buddy, we'll rock to your hearts content. Love to all.

36 weeks and we can introduce more holders, and hopefully by then we can rock also... so far they give us dirty looks if we start rocking, which is surprisingly difficult to NOT do with a babe in arms...
We had a lot of "fountains" when Easton was a baby. Averie pooped on my hand twice in one changing. Apparently, I need to learn to cover quicker!
He is looking stronger, and you look great in the last post, smiling and holding him in those adorable clothes..
