Thank You!

Happy Independence Day everybody.

Today we went up to SugarHouse to their art's fair... not a lot of art, but still fun. After watching Wall-E (two thumbs up) we went and claimed a patch of grass to watch Salt Lake's Symphonic Wind Band and watch the fireworks at Sugar house. The fire works were pretty good. I'm a firm believer in GOING TO WATCH the fireworks, or just staying home. All of you people who think they can just pull off the road somewhere and pretend you are watching the fireworks are totally missing the boat. You have to be close enough that the BOOM matches the flash. I'm glad we were close, since they had a lot of works that lit up starting right at ground level. Nicely done SugarHouse.

Growing up we always went to watch the fireworks at the Midland County Fair grounds. Mom and Dad tried the pulling off the road trick only one year and never got away with it again, we all wanted to be in the thick of the action on our blanket laying flat back and staring up. Home always had a lot of things spelled out of fireworks, or a flaming Liberty bell silhouette or something. Sparklers were a must.

This year I treated myself to a glow in the dark necklace... I loved it.

At the end of the concert the band played the traditional medley of all of the armed service songs. I am very proud that we had every service covered. As the men stood around me I felt it an honor to be able to applaud them.

So, to the veterans I call family, to the veterans I have never met, and to all of the men and women currently serving who are willing to put their lives at risk so I can buy glow in the dark necklaces, sit close enough to feel the boom, walk around an art fair, and sing along to Lee Greenwood.... I thank you.

They had a group at our fireworks that sang all the military theme songs, we had sorta learned them @girls' camp so it was fun,but we had really screwed some up singing without the music. I am babysitting Ben!
