Rain

I love the rain.

I started to jog to my car yesterday, then caught myself and ambled at a leisurely pace, enjoying being connected to something that feels ancient. Words like sacred, mystical, hallowed; all seem almost appropriate, yet insufficient. Before I started my car I just sat there for a while, enjoying it. I wanted to be on a porch, but at least I had a 360 degree view in my vehicle, and I could hear the steady rhythm on the roof of the car. By the time I got home it had sadly slowed to only a drizzle. I found excuses to putter around the yard in what was left of it. It feels as if everything that grows takes a deep breath during a rain storm. Trees seem taller, grass more vibrant, people more at peace. Today I fully anticipate to walk outside and just breath in the smell of clean that always follows the rain, letting it soak into my lungs.

I love the rain too. Its so fun to snuggle in and read a book and listen to it rain. Its also a good a excuse to not have to chase my kids while they are playing outside :)

I am just starting to like the rain again, 1.5 years in Oregon. It takes 3 years in drought country to enjoy it again!
