FOILED!

So at the last Dr's appointment we couldn't hear the heart beat well enough, so we went over to the ultrasound machine and watched the little dancer shake it like it just didn't care. So today, we had another Dr's appointment. Now, I know that sometimes you can tell the gender around 16 weeks, even if it is a little unreliable. So I was holding out for discovering the gender today, instead of waiting until the end of May...

oooh look at me....I'm a fetus and I like to show off how loud my heart can beat.

The kid is already messing with my plans, we're going to have to have a serious talk when it gets out here.

It took a couple of minutes, but we could hear the heart just fine today without the ultrasound....fine.....

It was relieving of course to hear it, I get so anxious right before the exam....I heard the doctor saying to some patient.. "so you're at 29 weeks..." it felt like so long to go.

158? per minute... it was perfect whatever it was.

The past weekend was nice... I planned to brag about how great my Elder's Quorum lesson went... it was fun and good, but no angels popped in to sing, no bright lights illuminated the chalk board.

I brought some wood blocks, had the guys divide into 3 groups... I also brought some baseballs. One group would build something, than everyone would destroy the heck out of it with the baseballs. It took until the fourth group to realize that I never said they HAD to build on top of the table, or sit in the chairs. So they started getting creative with barricades and protection, but ran out of time, the last group took their good idea, had me counting down how much time was left and surrounded the outside of the table with folded chairs so no baseballs could smash the construction under the table.

The whole point was about preparedness, and not procrastinating. Group 1 had no idea what was coming, group 2 and 3 did, but did nothing to prevent it, group 4 tried but ran out of time, group 5 knew what was coming and had me counting down the seconds of time left, they were the only ones whose building survived. The point? We've been warned, we know what's coming, yet we aren't prepared spiritually or physically, and even though we are being warned the time is almost here, we're not going to get a 5 minute warning, it was based on two talks from last last conference.

It was fun to try to smash things, we also talked about if they enjoyed building or destroying more and how that reflected their personality.. I like object lessons, I think it went fine; had hoped for angels and bright lights.

Friday night we went up to the ballet, we have season tickets to Ballet West, which sounds a little pompous, which I'm fine with, but we got a killer deal through Kristen's school. We have been going for a few years now, we love it. Besides the incredible performances, it is a preplanned fixed date night, which is a good thing for us.

This performance was a few different pieces all on the same night, there was modern and classical both. I loved the visual imagery of Balanchine. He used a corp of about 16 ballerinas, all in long transparent skirts to create stunning images against a plain backdrop, I wont keep trying to explain, it was breath taking. I'm a big fan.

Kristen is still having throat and allergy issues, they took a throat culture today, which she just LOVED, and have sent it off to the lab to see if she has strep. She's just tired of coughing, can't blame her.

ooooh look at me, I'm a fetus, I like to make you cough and make you wish I was already here!

Sounds like a "angel" inspired lesson. Definitely more geared toward the priesthood brethren although I am sure that the sisters would of had some fun too!

Dang Angels-- They were probably tired from the night before. Whatever. I love that you go to the ballet. I love it too. I remember the days when I used to be a ballerina.
Ok as for the ultrasound... Please wait until the alloted date that is previously scheduled for your ultrasound. I don't know if you remember that Oaklee was a boy for about 2 months. We purchased clothes and lots of blue. She's not much for blue now. It's all girl
