and a one and a two

Tonight I had the chance to play with the band at the middle school I teach. The band director invited teachers and staff who were former "band geeks" to join in on the finale of their concert. I practiced a few times over the last week, again yesterday with the band, and then played tonight. It's been 18 years since I played and it came back pretty fast. I love teaching dance, but I forgot how much I enjoyed being in band. It's a whole different side of creativity. It was wonderful. I had a silly smile plastered on my face.

So if I take tonight and combine it with thinking about raising children.... I want to have musical instruments all over the house so they grow up with the idea they can do anything. I want to be active and healthy, play all the sports, paint big bright pictures on cheap paper and blow into something that makes noise every now and then.

Yep, I want to live in a Norman Rockwell painting.
